The Religious Curriculum at Mary MacKillop College aims to give our young women an understanding of the Catholic faith and practice appropriate to their age and development. They are given opportunities to experience their faith through liturgies and through Christian action in the community.
Years 7 to 10 study Religious Education based on the Archdiocesan Religious Education Guidelines developed by Brisbane Catholic Education. In the Senior school, either Study of Religion or Certificate III in Christian Ministry and Theology is undertaken.
Programs that assist students to develop a better appreciation of their relationship and understanding of self, peers, families, environment, and God are explored over the six years at levels applicable to each age group. All take part in Religious Education classes and participate in the liturgical life of the College.
Study of Religion and Certificate III in Christian Ministry and Theology are allocated equal time in the timetable with other academic subjects. The College is committed to the study of religion as a way of providing a vision of reality that is enriched by the interaction of both a religious and an educational standpoint, thus contributing to the total development of the student.
Reflection Days occur once a year in Years 7, 8, 9 & 12, while Years 10 & 11 have the opportunity to Retreat off-campus.
